Job Description

Primary Purpose

This role provides process design and engineering support for the Company’s decarbonization projects. The individual will evaluate hydrogen and/or ammonia production technologies, lead/review FEED studies, and assist senior engineers on various projects. They may also offer recommendations for transporting hydrogen, ammonia, CO2, and other decarbonization products, while maintaining professional communication with diverse teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee the installation of new equipment and processes for decarbonization projects.
  • Collaborate with EPC and engineering firms to review and provide feedback on process designs.
  • Work with Business Development and Projects to assess technical options, conduct cost/benefit analysis, and provide expertise on hydrogen and ammonia production technologies.
  • Provide technical guidance on the pipeline transportation of hydrogen, ammonia, CO2, and other related decarbonization products.
  • Assist in defining project scope and executing FEED studies, offering recommendations based on their results.
  • Act as the process engineer on various decarbonization projects.
  • Contribute to the development of company standards for hydrogen, ammonia, CO2 production, transportation, and sequestration.
  • Help support and maintain a Process Safety Management (PSM) program for decarbonization facilities.
  • Assist with creating and facilitating Job Safety Analyses.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects, including planning, scheduling, and tracking budgets and cost estimates.
  • Ensure safety protocols are maintained for all personnel, company assets, and the public.

Experience/Specific Knowledge

  • A minimum of 10 years of service as a process, principal, or design engineer with some experience in hydrogen, electrolysis, syngas, ammonia, methanol, or GTL.
  • Knowledge of how to develop process simulation models & process optimization using commercial software (e.g. HYSYS).

Working Conditions

  • This is a full-time position.
  • Essentially indoors but must be able to work outdoors in project & maintenance activities.
  • Travel from 10-20% of time to engineering offices, field sites, and company offices with occasional overnight stays.
  • May be required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including a credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
