Position Overview
The Resident Social Worker plays a vital role in enhancing residents' quality of life through direct support, resource coordination, and advocacy. This position combines clinical expertise with community engagement to help residents maintain independence, build self-confidence, and achieve long-term housing stability.
Essential Responsibilities
Resident Support & Case Management
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify and address resident support requirements
- Provide expert guidance on benefits programs including SNAP, Medicaid, and Medicare
- Facilitate direct referrals to service agencies and coordinate benefit applications
- Serve as a primary liaison between residents, property management, and external service providers
- Foster positive communication channels between residents and management staff
Program Development & Community Building
- Design and implement social programs that promote independence and wellness
- Lead educational initiatives that support resident self-sufficiency
- Develop and maintain community-building activities that enhance resident engagement
- Mediate and resolve conflicts between residents using professional intervention techniques
- Create and maintain a supportive environment for elderly residents
Crisis Intervention & Support
- Respond promptly to urgent resident needs and referrals from staff
- Provide professional crisis intervention services when necessary
- Develop and implement strategies to maintain housing stability
- Coordinate emergency support services as needed
Administrative & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and confidential resident records
- Ensure all activities comply with Fair Housing, ADA, FCRA, and relevant regulations
- Document case management activities and maintain required reporting
- Participate in professional development and training as required
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or Clinical Case Work
- Current LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker) or LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) certification
- Demonstrated experience working with elderly populations
- Proven expertise in benefits programs (SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare)
- Strong crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Proficiency in standard office software and case management systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Russian and English
- Previous experience in residential or community-based social work
- Knowledge of local community resources and service providers
- Experience with group programming and community engagement
