Payroll Specialist
IronRoad is conducting a confidential search for a Payroll Specialist for our Cincinnati, Ohio client. We are looking for a talented, driven Payroll Specialist. The ideal candidate will work closely with internal team members to handle day-to-day Payroll functions necessary to support a fast-paced company. Payroll Specialist ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll; understands and follows applicable provisions.
- Prepares required tax filings and other reporting.
- Maintains a favorable working relationship with all fellow employees to foster, aid and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- 5-10 years of experience in Payroll
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Proficient with payroll and tax software
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software including Microsoft Excel, Pivot Tables, etc.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software
- Strong computer and internet literacy and the ability to train our clients on the use of our payroll and "time and attendance" software
- Working knowledge of payroll processing, payroll taxes, deductions, cafeteria plans, and pre-tax retirement plans, garnishments, etc.
- Experience with payroll tax returns/reports
- Experience in a customer service position with an ability for identifying customer needs
- Outgoing personality with strong interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 per year based on skills and experience determined by the hiring manager
