Job Description

Develop and implement new manufacturing processes and drive continuous improvement projects for our GKN Additive division. This role is Hybrid in nature but will be based out of the Auburn Hills, MI office and will require 2-3 days onsite each week.

• Creation of small test fixtures and implementation of basic experiments to generate ideas for new projects
• Collaboration in the project planning of new investments, taking into account process and product requirements
• Acceptance of systems at the manufacturer
• Support of new projects up to the production-ready handover to production
• Implement measures related to quality improvement and cost savings within the framework of the CIP process in the plant
• Development of machine-related standard processes and integration into the process landscape in the plant
• Development and implementation of layout changes for the project planning of new production lines
• Implementation, documentation and evaluation of test series for process development for additive manufacturing
• Continuous analysis and optimization of production processes in additive manufacturing process with the target of quality and productivity improvement
• Participation in the specification, acceptance and commissioning of new equipment
• Elaboration of process parameters for the production of components taking into account economic and functional requirements
• Preparation of upstream and downstream processes for the entire process chain
• Documentation of process sequences
• Creation of work instructions
• Training of machine operators
• Collect and analyze process data to identify areas for improvement, including build time optimization, material usage efficiency, and scrap reduction.
• Utilize statistical process control (SPC) methodologies to monitor process stability and identify trends.
• Basic CAD modelling, to assist with fixture and process designs

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
• Experience with additive manufacturing processes (Laser Powder Bed Fusion, Binder Jetting)
• Familiar with testing and validation methods - knows and understands methods for material and product evaluation
• R&D expertise - understands R&D results and ability to transfer R&D results (materials, processes, …) to new products and applications
• Quality documentation - knows and understands Q-documents like FMEA PPAP, control plans, product (special, significant) characteristics matrix, cp/cpk/pp/ppk values etc
• Understands quality measurement devices
• Project & program management – experienced in initiating and leading projects and programs
