Job Description

On behalf of our client— a Top 25 NMHC Developer experiencing rapid national growth —we’re hiring a Director of Asset Management, based in Charleston, SC.

Relocation assistance provided.

Reporting to the Founder/Head of Capital Markets, the Director will be an integral part of the development team and its growth. This person will play the lead role in the asset management of large multi-family development projects and provide strategic direction for the company’s portfolio of properties, with regular interaction and collaboration with all divisions of the organization.

You will participate in development lease-up hand-off, weekly leasing calls, investor reporting, and project sales and refinances. Overall oversight of the property management companies to ensure top market positioning and maximize NOI growth.

What You’ll Do:

  • Launch and operate an in-house asset management platform with a strong focus on maximizing NOI.
  • Assess current operations to maximize productivity and build a best-in-class platform.
  • Provide strategic direction for the company’s portfolio of stabilized properties.
  • Oversee the budget process and preparation of the annual strategic plan for each stabilized property in the portfolio.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis and performance reports to identify opportunities for budget adherence, improving revenue, reducing costs, and increasing property value.
  • Develop and implement asset management plans, including capital improvements, property repositioning, and operational initiatives.
  • Oversee lease renewals, negotiations, and new leasing efforts to ensure lease terms meet financial and operational goals.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 7-10+ years of institutional multi-family real estate asset management experience.
  • BS/MS degree in business, finance, real estate or related field preferred.
  • MBA degree a plus.
  • A track record of accomplishments demonstrating increased responsibility spanning lease up strategy, operations, sales and refinancing.
  • Understanding of risk management and portfolio diversification.
  • Ability to make presentations to senior management, investment committee, or investors.
  • Strong quantitative skills and analytical ability.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
