Talon Hiring Solutions has a client in Hoover, AL that is seeking an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to lead all aspects of accounting for long-term projects. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate revenue recognition and financial reporting using the percentage-of-completion method. You’ll partner closely with project managers and senior leadership to drive financial accuracy, transparency, and efficiency across the organization.

What You’ll Do

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations for all long-term projects.
• Apply the percentage-of-completion method to recognize revenue and expenses accurately.
• Prepare and present detailed financial reports including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop and monitor project budgets.
• Forecast and manage cash flow to ensure financial stability.
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and other accounting standards.
• Support audits and strengthen internal accounting controls.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred .
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including 2+ years in a management role.
• Hands-on experience with long-term contracts and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and project-based financial management.
• Proficiency with accounting systems (QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills .
• Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
