Conceptual Estimator – Design-Build | Industrial/Warehouse Focus

Columbus, OH (Relocation Assistance Available)

$130,000 – $170,000 base + strong bonus + excellent benefits

Our client — a leading design-build firm specializing in industrial and warehouse projects — is seeking a Conceptual Estimator to play a key role in their preconstruction team. This is a critical hire and a high-visibility position where you'll influence project direction from day one.

As a Conceptual Estimator, you’ll work upstream in the project lifecycle — before drawings are finalized — helping shape scope, budget, and delivery strategy for major industrial builds. You’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders, design partners, and clients to turn rough ideas into real projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop accurate conceptual and schematic budgets using limited documentation and historical cost data
• Lead the early budgeting process and provide cost options that align with project goals
• Guide internal design and operations teams on scope, logistics, and feasibility
• Serve as a key liaison with owners, architects, and engineers during the project development phase
• Evaluate historical cost trends and market data to inform budget assumptions
• Identify and mitigate risk during the earliest project phases

Ideal Candidate:

• 5+ years of estimating or preconstruction experience, with a strong background in conceptual estimating
• Deep understanding of industrial/warehouse or manufacturing facility construction
• Strong communicator comfortable interfacing with owners, designers, and executives
• Proficient in estimating software, Excel, and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Strategic mindset with the ability to balance big-picture goals and technical detail
