Job Description

A global company that run multiple data center facilities worldwide are seeking a Substation Operator to join their team in Granbury, TX.

In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in maintaining and repairing electrical systems for cutting-edge operations, with a focus on high-voltage equipment and substation functionality. This role offers the opportunity to grow into overseeing and managing multiple substations as part of long-term operational expansion.

Key Responsibilities of the Substation Operator

  • Install, maintain, and repair high-voltage electrical systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, switches, and protective relays.
  • Conduct diagnostics, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime.
  • Oversee substation control panels and monitor power flow using SCADA systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national electrical codes and high-voltage safety regulations.
  • Perform inspections of electrical systems, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Keep detailed maintenance logs and records for compliance and audits.
  • Collaborate with teams to share knowledge and mentor junior staff, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity.
  • Be prepared to travel to remote mining sites or for specific projects as needed.

Key Requirements of the Substation Operator

  • 2-3 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician or equivalent in electrical engineering and substation operations.
  • Must hold a Journeyman or Master Electrician license.
  • Hands-on experience with high-voltage systems, including transformers, power distribution units, and circuit breakers.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and substation control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical theory, including 3-phase wiring and medium/high-voltage systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Physically fit, with the ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, lifting, climbing, and working outdoors.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a strong focus on safety.
  • Knowledge of Bitcoin mining or data center operations is a plus.
