COMPANY AND POSITION OVERVIEW
Our client is a vertically integrated manufacturer of natural and organic mattresses. Operating from an 80,000-square-foot facility, the company produces mattresses, toppers, and specialty sleep products using certified organic materials. With a strong focus on sustainability, quality, and affordability, Our client sells its products through major online retailers including Amazon, Wayfair, Sam’s Club, and Walmart.
The Mattress Production Manager will lead daily operations at their manufacturing facility. This role will oversee a team of approximately 30 employees, ensuring that production runs efficiently, safely, and at the highest level of quality. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of mattress production processes, raw material management, and mattress machinery lines, with a proven ability to lead and motivate production teams.
KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Direct, supervise, and support a staff of 30 production employees, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety.
• Manage day-to-day mattress manufacturing operations, including cutting, sewing, assembly, foam fabrication, spring units, and final packaging.
• Ensure optimal use of raw materials (foam, fabric, coils, adhesives, and other components) to control costs and reduce waste.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain mattress machinery lines (automated quilting, tape edge, roll-pack, etc.), ensuring maximum uptime and efficiency.
• Monitor production schedules to meet delivery timelines and customer demand.
• Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure all products meet company standards and customer expectations.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate production staff; ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate with supply chain, engineering, and leadership teams to drive process improvements, productivity gains, and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Track and report production metrics, identifying areas for efficiency improvement and cost reduction.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on mattress production experience with proven leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of mattress manufacturing processes, raw materials, and component flow.
• Direct experience with mattress machinery lines (quilting, foam cutting, pocket coil, tape edge, roll-pack, etc.).
• Demonstrated success managing and motivating a production staff of 20+ employees.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and production issues.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to balance competing priorities.
• Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Attributes
• Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills.
• ERP/MRP system familiarity for production planning and reporting.
