Role Description

Dr. Van Krueger, a private practice orthopedic surgeon specializing in Shoulder and Sports Medicine, is seeking a full-time Lead Medical Assistant to join his growing team. This is an on-site position based at Ortho Missouri in Creve Coeur, MO.

This role is ideal for a highly organized and proactive individual who enjoys both clinical and administrative coordination. You will manage Dr. Krueger’s overall schedule — ensuring appropriate time is blocked for clinic, surgery, meetings, and marketing commitments — while keeping day-to-day operations running efficiently.

You’ll work alongside another medical assistant and serve as the team lead, delegating tasks, supporting clinic flow, and ensuring all duties are completed accurately and on time.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate Dr. Krueger’s professional schedule, ensuring appropriate time is blocked for clinic, surgery, meetings, and marketing events.
• Oversee day-to-day clinic operations to maintain efficiency and a high-quality patient experience.
• Perform all clinical MA duties, including patient intake, dressing changes, injection preparation, and blood draws.
• Manage the team email account- replying to faxes, uploading clinical documents, coordinating responses with Dr. Krueger
• Delegate and follow up with staff to ensure timely and accurate task completion.
• Track and manage authorizations for imaging, therapy, and surgical procedures.
• Assist with scheduling-related administrative projects as needed.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Maintain exam room cleanliness and supply inventory.
• Assist with insurance authorizations and chart preparation.
• Identify and implement workflow improvements to enhance clinic efficiency.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in a medical office (orthopedic or surgical specialty preferred).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
• Proficiency with EMR systems (AdvancedMD experience a plus).
• Proficiency with Outlook email management, basic pdf management
• Professional, dependable, and motivated to grow with the practice.
