Job Description

Estimator - Onsite in Olathe, KS

$85,000/YR

Bell & Associates has been engaged by our client in the printed goods and manufacturing space so help them find their next Estimator. The Estimator is responsible for estimating and job costing functions for the company. Estimates labor and material costs based on specifications outlined in the sales order: Examines specifications, and sample layouts, and calculates production costs, using labor and material pricing schedules, and considering factors such as construction, tooling, material requirements, and inks to determine cost effective and competitive price. Evaluates findings and makes recommendations to management regarding training needs, use of alternative materials or manufacturing methods to reduce costs.

Essential Functions:

  • Estimates bid requests using the company’s estimating program.
  • Maintains detailed technical knowledge of the company's manufacturing capabilities
  • Maintains an understanding of printing, processes, services, pricing, and materials to ensure estimates accurately reflect all work processes & expected performance.
  • Suggests improvements to estimating procedures and acts to improve timeliness or reduce costs.
  • Ensures adherence to all quality control processes and procedures.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Preferred 2+ years of previous customer service and/or printing experience.
  • Preferred 4-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Candidate should possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Candidate should be proficient with basic computer skills including being able to develop spreadsheets for data analysis.
  • Candidate should possess a strong work ethic, time management skills, troubleshooting skills, a positive attitude, and be detail oriented. Additionally good follow-through, good planning/organizations skills, and decision-making skills are a must as well.
