Job Description

Korn Ferry has been exclusively retained to lead the search for an External Reporting Controller on behalf of a fast-growing, privately held manufacturer with private equity backing and a national footprint. With 35+ production facilities across North America, the company is known for its dynamic acquisition strategy, operational scale, and strong brand portfolio.

This is a critical leadership role with full ownership of external financial reporting, audit oversight, and IPO readiness. As the business prepares for future capital events, this position will play a key role in upgrading reporting infrastructure and aligning processes with public company standards.

Scope of Responsibilities:

• Mentor and develop accounting staff, instilling best practices in external reporting and controls
• Instill external public reporting precision into the recurring and ad hoc accounting processes
• Prepare and review recurring quarterly, and annual GAAP financial statements
• Prepare 144A, offering memorandum and/or S-1 financial statements, as needed
• Manage filings and disclosures in coordination with external advisors
• Lead SOX 404 implementation and testing to establish a robust internal control framework Identify potential financial risks and opportunities within construction and manufacturing operations, recommending strategies to mitigate risks and optimize resource allocation.
• Serve as primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors
• Coordinate audit and tax planning, ensuring efficient completion with clean and timely opinions
• Build and refine IPO-ready reporting packages, including MD&A and investor presentations
• Collaborate with IT team to automate reporting, reduce close-cycle times, and strengthen data integrity

Qualifications:

• CPA certification required; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or relevant
• 8+ years of external reporting or public company accounting experience, including SOX 404 implementation and SEC reporting
• Proven success guiding a company through private-to-public transition and IPO readiness.
• Hands-on experience with ERP implementations, financial consolidation tools, and month-end close
