Pharmacy Technician – Patient Assistance Programs

Pay: $27/hour | Weekly Pay + Optional Benefits

Location: Arizona State Hospital, 2500 E Van Buren Street, Phoenix, AZ (Fully On-site)

Tentative Start Date: 01/26 (Tentative)

Schedule: Monday–Friday | Standard Business Hours

Position Overview

The organization provides medical products, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare solutions that connect patients, providers, payers, pharmacists, and manufacturers to support integrated care coordination and effective patient management.

Responsibilities

  • Recover medications administered or dispensed to indigent patients without third-party prescription coverage
  • Build relationships with and serve as a liaison to physicians, patients, and pharmaceutical companies regarding program systems and processes
  • Answer questions regarding company policies and procedures related to reimbursement programs
  • Routinely visit key contacts within the health system to ensure a high level of service and support program participation
  • Maintain daily communication with patients, nurses, physicians, social services, pharmacy personnel, pharmaceutical representatives, and manufacturers
  • Discuss medication options with physicians and patients based on accessibility and availability in an outpatient setting
  • Respond to pharmacy questions related to day-to-day operational issues and product/vendor information
  • Manage and process applications to pharmaceutical manufacturers' Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs)
  • Educate physicians, patients, and pharmaceutical companies on program mission, guidelines, requirements, and appropriate referrals
  • Provide extensive patient education and counseling to determine eligibility for assistance programs
  • Identify and resolve rejected applications, including securing comparable medication regimens
  • Refer patients who do not qualify for assistance programs to external resources such as local charities
  • Track and report the value of recovered medications for billing and reporting purposes
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and security of patient information

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (required)
  • Spanish Bilingual Required
  • 5–7 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Customer service
  • Pharmacy operations
  • Sales or purchasing
  • Administrative support within a healthcare setting
