Insight Contracting - Appliance Repair Technician

Description:

This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and installing home appliances in residential rental units. The candidate must have at least 1 year of experience working on home appliances. Candidates without experience will not be considered.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the residential and commercial construction industry and the ability to provide some of their own tools. The candidate should also be familiar with construction industry safety standards to ensure project security and be able to work with minimal supervision.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose problems and repairs for home appliances, both gas and electric.
  • Estimate the costs of repairs and services in comparison to replacing an appliance.
  • Train fellow team members to accurately assess, estimate, and perform repairs and/or installations of home appliances.
  • Work with team members to expand knowledge of mechanics, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.
  • Identify and communicate to supervisor when training opportunities may arise that may assist or expand capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot work orders with tenants over the phone and in-person.
  • Work a rotating schedule to provide consistent, timely service throughout the week and weekends, including being available for emergency issues when on-call.
  • Provide on-call services to tenants as defined by our Emergency Maintenance Standards.
  • During Winter, be available for Snow Duty (shovel/plow/blow snow, spread ice melt, etc.).
  • Maintain a clean and organized inventory in company storage and provided vehicles.
  • Assist with purchasing maintenance supplies while staying within the planned budget.
  • Communicate with supervisor regarding the overall maintenance function of the property.
  • Depending on the nature of work performed, you may be provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the task assigned.
  • Keep accurate time and detailed records of work performed at each location through the use of a service-tracking application installed on a mobile device.
  • Communicate effectively with management, tenants, and other maintenance technicians.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • A valid driver’s license and corporate-insurable driving record
  • 1+ years’ experience in repairing home appliances
  • Experience in small engine repair a plus
  • This position will require the following on a daily basis:
    • Grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and otherwise use small to large trades tools and equipment
    • Grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy objects (50-80 lbs.)
    • Grasp, turn, twist, pull, push, lift, and otherwise move equipment, controls, parts, etc.
    • Visually assess maintenance, construction, and repair needs
