Analyst House Overview

  • Analyst House is a high-growth accounting and finance firm. We serve startups and small businesses who have revenues, or have raised, between $0.5M to $25M.
  • We are a full-time team of 2 with experience at late-stage startups and big 4 consulting. We are passionate about entrepreneurship, technology, impact, and health.
  • Our clients operate in interesting and diverse industries - VC backed software companies, pro sports agencies, consumer packaged goods, construction, traditional consulting...
  • We handle full stack accounting and finance for our clients. The accounting side typically includes bookkeeping, bill pay and accounts receivable. We support clients with modern accounting software implementations. On the finance side, we build out business intelligence dashboards, financial models, support with fundraising, budgets/FP&A, and more.

Role Overview

We are looking for a high agency Accounting & Finance Analyst to support our client portfolio.

Every day at Analyst House is different. To describe this role, it is easiest to describe a traditional client lifecycle:

  • Sign new client
  • Month 1 clean historical books
  • Months 2-3 transition to new accounting systems (Liveflow, Ramp, Gusto, Brex, Campfire...)
  • Month 4 build detailed cash flow forecast (updated weekly)
  • Month 5 build budgets & budget variance reviews for next year
  • Ongoing - bookkeeping, AP, invoicing, cash flow forecasting, financial reporting

You will be involved in every step of the process, with opportunities to niche down over time. The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate or early-career professional (1-3 years of experience) eager to hone their accounting and finance skills across a variety of business types and stages.

Key Responsibilities

1. Bookkeeping & General Ledger

Maintain accurate financial records, record transactions, and manage the monthly close process.

2. AP & AR Management

Handle vendor invoices, ensure timely payments, and oversee client billing processes.

3. Excel Data Analysis

Review and interpret data sets to provide actionable insights and support decision-making.

4. Budgeting & Forecasting

Assist in financial planning by building sales forecasts, budgets, and variances at month end.

5. System Setup & Maintenance

Configure accounting software, troubleshoot issues, and continuously optimize financial systems.

6. Financial Statements & Reporting

Prepare timely statements and summaries to present key findings and performance indicators.

7. Process Improvement

Identify workflow inefficiencies, propose automation opportunities, and implement best practices.

8. Team Collaboration

Work with senior staff and clients to meet deadlines, ensure accuracy, and share insights.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of relevant internship or professional experience in accounting, finance, or audit.
  • Technical Skills: Skilled in MS Excel (little/no mouse); knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Ramp…); understands debits and credits; has built a financial model
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Communication: Ability to present complex financial concepts clearly to team members and clients.
  • Adaptability: Likes new tools, juggles multiple projects, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
